Picked a name! Jazzlyn Justina Erpelding

We like Jasmine, but thought Jazzlyn was a neat variation. People can call her Jazz, Jazzy or Jazzy J :) Big Kevin is already calling her "Little Jazz".

The baby crying in the background is Justina's niece...not Little Jazz.

New baby girl is here! No name!!

Well, Justina had her 39th week appointment on May 27th and was 3-4cm. She had her "membranes swept" which apparently starts up labor for ~2/3 of women within 2-3 days...Justina started having strong contractions within 10hrs. The next day she wanted to be brought into the hospital again. After arriving at nearly 1pm, she was found to be a little more dialated. They decided to go on ahead and break the water sac and speed up the labor. That made Justina so happy. It was eventually done at ~5p and it worked! She started having painful contractions with only a few minutes rest inbetween. The anesthesiologist got the epidural+spinal in around 600p. That made Justina comfortable again. Around 7p they checked Justina and decided it was time to push. About 7:20p we had a baby girl! We just cant agree on a name yet! Justina's mother was also present nearly the whole labor.
Justina was able to feed the baby twice before she took a multi-hour nap. I ran home about 830p and picked up the boys where our neighbor Shannon graciously took care of them that evening. Eventually Justina's mother Patti took them home for bed and school in the morning. Since then, we've enjoyed our baby girl. We're back to the diaper changing and spit-up cleaning routine again! The plan is to leave this evening (24hrs post delivery).

17 days to go

The house is really coming together. The nursery is pretty much done. I bought some really cute pink curtains and the crib is all put together. I bought a diaper changing table from a 2nd hand store. Kevin wasn't too impressed but it cleaned up nicely and I bought nice wooden baskets for storage on the shelves. I have hung up most of the baby's clothes and there's a big comfy rocking chair in her room.

She remains nameless. For the longest time I was certain her name would be Sophia Annabelle but I'm not so sure about it anymore. Kevin was too keen on the name anyway. I guess we'll all have to wait to find out what her name ends up being.

The swelling has now moved up my legs. They look like giant tree trucks and my ankles are protruding out. It's actually alarming to see. I guess since my blood pressure is ok there's nothing to worry about.

Today is Lena's bridal shower. It should be fun!!

36 weeks

I'm 36 weeks along now. My feet and fingers are still swollen. The heartburn has increased and will actually wake me up at night and sometimes I have to sleep sitting up. I've been very tired lately just from not being able to sleep comfortably at night. Mylanta really seems to help though.

The boys and I made a paper-link chain to keep track of how many days are left until the due date. Each day one of the boys tears one off. They got a little excited and tore 3 or 4 off in one day so it was hard for them to not be able to tear another one off for a few days afterwards.

Dennis came to our house from Saturday through Sunday evening and helped Kevin start to get the house ready for the baby. They started putting tile down in our bedroom and ripped out the old carpet and padding in the bedroom that will become Kevin and Drake's room. Dennis laid most of the new flooring in. It looks VERY nice! Once we have that room set up we can start the process of preparing the nursery for the baby.

We get a crib this weekend and Dennis is coming back to help some more. My sister is coming as well with a couple helpers. We should be able to get a lot done.

I am going to decorate with a butterfly theme in the baby's room. I found a crib set at a second hand store for only $18 that came with a bumper, sheet, blanket, quilt and skirt. It's pink with butterflies. I love it.

Well, back to work!
